Project description:

U.S. Alliance is a major paper manufacturer. A new, proprietary business management computer system was installed to replace an existing Measurex system. An Allen-Bradley PLC-5 series controller rack was installed to provide an interface between this new computer system and an existing G.E. Series Six PLC which controls the roll-wrap line. The new Allen-Bradley PLC-5 was connected serially to a barcode scanner, a width / diameter measuring device, a stencilling printer and roll scales. The PLC-5 gathers and distributes data between the G.E. Series Six, the field devices and the new business management computer.

C&E Design Services scope:

• Site survey and verification of existing documentation, equipment and field wiring.
• Internal wiring diagrams for the new Allen-Bradley PLC-5 series controller rack
• Panel layout drawings for the new PLC controller, I/O rack and the enclosed panels
• Field interconnection diagrams, cable schedule and power plan of new equipment
• Configuration and programming of the new Allen-Bradley PLC5 control system
• On-site support, startup and debugging of system
